OUR BELIEFS
CECA PETRA is a Bible based church, committed to the message of Jesus Christ coming to save humanity and offering an eternally fulfilled life with God. We believe that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, that he died for the forgiveness of sins, rose to life on the third day after his death, and will return to judge the world and restore creation in justice, wholeness and love. People will be excluded from this forgiveness and restoration because we have rejected Jesus Christ as the only God and chosen to ignore him in the way we live. We believe in the reality of eternal punishment for those so excluded.
But the good news is that forgiveness, restoration and wholeness is available to everyone who chooses to genuinely apologise to God, stop ignoring him and trust that he really does know the best way for each of us to live individually and together.
OUR JOURNEY
Christ Evangelical Centre of Australia (CECA) began as a Cantonese speaking church in Carlingford in 2001. After two years God grew our church and we moved into 8/172 Rowe St, Eastwood.
Once we moved to Eastwood, the English ministry began with a youth service and fellowship time regularly on Friday nights.
In October 2006, the Adult English Service began. There was a children’s program for under 12s as well as a small home group meetings which met every week. A year later, we moved to the Macquarie Community Centre, but God kept us growing so we moved back in Eastwood. With the redevelopment of Eastwood Centre soon to start, we moved again to the Epping Uniting Church Building at 40 Oxford St Epping in 2011.
At the end of 2016 we moved to Mount St. Benedict's College, Pennant Hills where we currently have Sunday Services.
OUR MISSION
"Imitating Christ, Transforming Lives"
At CECA Petra we see our mission statement as being one element. Imitating Christ we seek to make disciples of Jesus who can and do make more disciples of Jesus. This is the fundamental process by which lives are transformed. In turn these transformed lives transform the community around them.
A bold aim that comes from a bold God: Jesus Christ himself. He is our model, our template and our Lord in every aspect of life. He empowers us through his Holy Spirit, changing us, endowing us with gifts and sealing our eternal future.
Ultimately our mission is Christ's mission. We encourage everyone to come with us!
